Gilbert & George - Bend It
Welcome to my sonic world....
As Suris, we’ve received many favourable comments on our ‘sound’, which is a combination of writing, production, mixing and mastering.

There is no substitute for long-earned experience. Over many decades I’ve made many errors and solved many problems - which is the best way to learn!

Now I’ve formalised my skills by undertaking further training with industry-leaders mastering.com

I can take a multitrack recording and make it significantly better (Mixing) or make a completed stereo mix ready for release - competing in loudness, dynamics and EQ with commercial recordings so it will translate well on any playback medium (Mastering).

If you have a project you’d like to discuss, please email me and we’ll get the ball rolling. My single-song rates are below, but I’ll generally provide a special rate for multiple tracks or complete albums.

Why MackieMix?
You can search online and find cheaper rates, but they’ll rarely include all the things I do, and they certainly won’t spend as long doing it. I’ll be working to references provided by you, rather than applying ‘out of the box’ processing.

I’ll typically spend 1-2 days completing a mix. I'll take care to fix any problems, then I'll add width, height and depth using equalisation, transient-shaping, dynamic and spatial processing tools. Vocals will usually be tuned and levelled prior to any other processing.
My Studio
I work in a sound-conditioned studio environment using the latest version of Logic Pro (Digital Audio Workstation) on an Apple Mac Studio M1 Ultra (Dual Processor) with 128 GB RAM. I have an extensive range of high-end audio plugins to solve problems and to bring space and life to your sound.

Monitoring is via Dynaudio BM6A active monitors and Neumann NDH30 headphones, both utilising Sonarworks Sound ID reference calibrated sound correction.

Why Digital?
There’s no magic in using external analogue gear. Part of my process involves using analogue emulations to introduce harmonics and 'analogue warmth' where required. Perhaps most important is that the digital environment provides total recall, so if any revisions are required, they can easily be undertaken from an agreed reference point.
Have a listen....
Madonna – Ray of Light (.m4a)
I love the original ‘electronica, trip-hop, dance-pop’ version, which was innovative in its time but rather long at 5m22s. I re-worked this as a ‘pop-rock’ single 3m31s, adding new drums, bass, keys and guitars where appropriate. I didn’t change Madonna’s vocals in any way!
Kamaliza - The Oracle (.m4a)
This was a mix/master project from ‘raw’ stems – part of my course with mastering.com (You can find the official version on most streaming sites and see which you prefer)
Strange World - Raw(.m4a)
A typical 'raw mix' provided as a project by mastering.com. This is actually a great mix, ready in every way for final mastering.
Strange World - Mastered (.m4a)
This is my mastered version of the above mix. Of course you would expect it to be louder, but you will also hear more sonic 'height, width and depth', so it will sound good on any system.
